We just published our latest publication, “Election Compass Macedonia 2016: Analysis and Recommendations.” Authored by Olimpija Hristova Zaevska and Trajche Panov, the publication presents the main features of Election Compass, a voting advice application which Impact offered to the electorate for the Parliamentary elections held in December 2016. The study first contextualises the implementation of the tool in the political situation in Macedonia. Then, it offers a description of the process of drafting the questionnaire, the methodology of political party coding, as well as the content and the opportunities offered by the tool. The analytical part of the study focuses on the level of responsiveness of the political parties and the citizens. It presents the positions of users on several prominent issues, based on data from the 9,949 users of the tool. Moreover, it offers an analysis of the dimensionality of the political competition in Macedonia. This study also puts forward several recommendations for further application of such tools, their significance for the democratic processes and the potential for evidence-based research with the data obtained from the Electoral Compass Macedonia 2016.
